Canyon Ropes Canyoneering is really, really hard on ropes. Water, sand, awkward rappel starts, awkward rappellers - all these lead to ropes being scuffed across edges and an early death due to cuts in the sheath. Imlay Canyon Ropes concentrate on toughness. We use 100% polyester fibers woven very tightly in a 16-bobbin mantle to pack as much fiber as possible into the sheath. Polyester absorbs WAY less water than nylon, and maintains almost all its toughness and strength when wet. These Polyester ropes are also very, very static - good for rappelling, not useful for climbing. Available in 8mm and 9mm sizes, and in many different lengths.
